Good question!

The newcomers/first-timers session is a short introduction held on the 
day before the conference (Sunday) by people who have been coming to the 
conference for years. The aim of the session is to give those who are 
new to the conference some information about what to expect and what to 
do to be able to maximise their experience during the week. It is also a 
chance to meet other people who are in the same boat.

This year's session should be held around 4pm on the Sunday somewhere 
near where the check-in desk is (to be confirmed though!).
